WHAT IS IT WITH TIME

What is it with time?  Some cultures don't measure anything with time.  Then, there are others that are obsessed with time.  Even, in our culture of punctuality, I know some who can talk the time away or sleep the time away with no concerns.  I don't fit either.  My brain works with numbers and timing.  Leaving me with days where I feel like the Rabbit in "Alice in Wonderland,"  always rushing and never getting it all done.  This is where I'm reminded of my mother's saying, "It is people that matter. In time, it will all get done." My time... What am I doing with my time? What time have we come from? Where is this time leading us? Where?  What?  Why? Time

Spring Planting and Sowing Seeds

Spring Planting and Sowing Seeds My mother believed in the Farmers Almanac. She checked it for everything. However, she always planted her garden on Good Friday.  I don’t think the almanac said that Good Friday was the day, but for my mother, Good Friday was THE DAY.  I think she really chose Good Friday because we were not in school.  My father would have the garden plowed and ready to plant.  One of us would use the wood handle of the hoe to make holes while another would follow dropping in seed.  We had to be careful to never drop more than two seed in each hole.  If we could sneak four or five without Mama seeing us, we went for it.  There were plenty things we wanted to do rather than seed the garden.   My sisters dumped most of a bag of black eyed peas at the end of a row once.  Like Mama would never know!  About a week after planting, there were all those pea plants coming up in one spot.  Those plants w...

I'm Back

I’m back.  I still write in my note journal by my bed every day, but as far as blogging notes, I’m afraid that I will let it consume me.  I fear pride.  I am praying to be humble as I want my blog not to be about me, but a tool of encouragement. I’ve had a lot of topics come through my mind and soul.  Yes, I said soul, the deep inner part of my spiritual self.  The Bible Study of Esther, by Beth Moore, has spoken to my heart and challenged me.  Example, when we have retreats, the leaders take time to pray over every building, rooms, chairs, pews, altars, and speakers.  Now, why aren’t we praying over every aspect of our life?  Why aren’t we praying over our children’s rooms?  Parents, stand in your children’s rooms and pray that God will rule over their lives, the room will be a place of devotion, and bless the bed where the child will sleep and dream.  Pray over the kitchen table that words shared will be of laughter and joy....
