The End of the Fridge Tale

Anyone who had never had to depend on anyone for anything, it is hard to ask for help.  As for me, Kevin would fix things or find someone to fix things, so it was never my worry.  Over the years, I've admired women who could do their own plumbing, fix appliances, and take care of their cars.  Most of them did it because they had no choice.  Either their husbands passed away or left them for another woman, so they were left to do things for themselves along with raising children.  So, whether it is because one can no longer handle fix it jobs or someone like me who had a good husband to take care of the fix it jobs, it is hard to ask for help.  This is where I found myself with my fridge.       If you have read older posts, the ridiculous tale of fridge sitting in the middle of the kitchen waiting for parts to fix the ice maker and water system.  Believe me, Sears is not any help.  All they do is l...

Why Trump? The Difference Between a Politician and a Businessman

The United States 2016 presidential campaign has had many surprises.  I laugh at political analyst and their attempts to explain what is happening.  My daughter and I have spent a few hours discussing and trying to figure out why and how so many people will vote for an arrogant, fowl mouthed, and self-centered candidate, and why the other party doesn’t have any young fresh ideas.  The frustration of not knowing the direction of our country hits us hard.  Then, recently the thought occurred to me the reason for how the votes are cast is due to the difference between a politician and a businessman.      So I ask the question, “What is the difference between a politician and a businessman?”      My mother-in-law would be quick to let anyone know that a politician is “a snake in the grass.”  We laughed about it, but let’s take a look at this description.  Good men run for office because they want to make a chang...

Honestly, if I retire, I'll still be busy.

I have lots in my head to blog, but by the time I get everything else done, it's bedtime.  I work full time at a busy job. Alright, here it is.  I'm just an admin staff and never wanted more.  A few years ago our manager signed me up for a few classes in management.  He threw out a few hints right before an account rep position was open.  Did I tell you I can be naïve?  Maybe, I should say that I can be clueless at times.  Bless his heart, he had to come out and verbally suggest that I apply.  I was flattered, but I did not want the responsibility.  I enjoy all the young adults in my office because they are smart with great minds.  Plus, I always liked being the supporter and director of the leader.  Other than my job, I come home and have grass to cut, yard to keep up, house work, and my projects.  Always, I have too many projects.  First, I plan lessons for two children's church classes and recrui...

Being alone is hard

I've never been truly alone until three years ago.  It's hard.        I let things bother me that should not bother me.  I don't complain.  I don't want to become a bitter old woman.  I know a lady whose life ended when her husband died.  She was contrary, irritable, critical, and mean to the ones closest to her.  No, I don't want to be that person.  So, I pray a lot and meditate on how I can face each day and each incident with contentment.      Today was one of those days where I prayed and prayed for contentment.  Usually, I have no problem sleeping, but I could not sleep last night resulting in a sleepy and bad day. My refrigerator is in the middle of my kitchen floor, and it is eating at me to the core.  The little hose that goes to the ice maker broke, so I purchased a replacement hose.  I could not move the refrigerator.  It is big and squeezed tigh...
