Giving Glory to God Everyday

Luke 17:18 "Were there not found any who returned to give glory to God except this foreigner?"

How often do we give glory to God?  During the Christmas season, we sing and listen to songs giving glory to God.  We sing and praise God for sending his son as the Savoir of the World.  But, the rest of the year, do we give God the glory for each blessing he showers on us each day?
In Luke 17, Jesus heals 10 lepers.  In biblical days, lepers lived in colonies and were not allowed to live with family.  These 10 lepers approached Jesus saying, "Jesus, Master, have mercy on us." (13)  Jesus healed them and sent them to the priest as custom was in that day.  They were healed and after the priest examines them, they can return to their homes and family.  After the priest examined them, only one returns to "give glory to God" for the miracle of healing.  "He was a Samaritan."
Why would nationality be mentioned?  You see, Jews did not hang out with Samaritans.  They were considered unclean without being a leper.  A Jew would never approach a Samaritan and when they did, they would go take a bath to wash off the dust of the Samaritan.  My friend, this is prejudice.  However, who went back to give thanks?  It was the Samaritan.
Jesus said, "Were there not ten cleansed?  But where are the nine?  Were there not any found who returned to give glory to God except this foreigner?"  (17, 18)
After Jesus acknowledges that only the "foreigner" gave thanks and glory, he said to the Samaritan, "Arise, go your way.  Your faith has made you well." (19)
Where were the others?  The were most likely joyful and glad to be able to return to family, but did they take the time to say, thank you?  Surely, their faith made them well also, but where were they?  Did they rejoice with family and give the glory to God?  Did they go on living and forget they were healed?
Do we remember to give God the glory each day?  During Thanksgiving, we gather with family and friends and name the things we are thankful for.  Then, Christmas comes with us singing songs of Jesus' birth and songs of giving glory to God.  Those with much seem to give less thanks.  Let's not be that way.   Let's give God the glory every day of the year for every blessing we have each day.
